was a fine cabinet maker and also made furniture. He was also a fine carpenter. He

Unmarried, Pearl was born in the Town of Fenner, N.Y. He was educated in the
common school in the Town of Fenner and in the Cazenovia Seminary. His early life
was spent with his father on the farm. When he was twenty one years of age his
father died and he remained on the farm, which he worked with his brother,
Merchant. When he was twenty five years of age he purchased his father's estate
from the heirs and lived on the old homestead until his death. He always took interest
in town and county affairs, in educational matters and held several of the appointive offices.

Mercy was b. at Warrington of Middleboro, Ma. After her first marriage she m.
Count Primo Magri. Her Warren lineage can be traced back to William the Conquerer of England.
Mercy was a midget and was probably one of the best known of the Bumpus's.
At
the time of her marriage to Charles it is recorded that he was 25 inches tall and she
was three inches shorter. At maturity Charles was 40 inches
tall and weighed 40 lbs.
Charles was a 32nd degree Mason and Knight Templar.
Charles and Mercy both appeared with the Barnum and Bailey Circus.
They
appeared before many of the crowned heads of Europe and the Queen of England, Queen Victoria.
When received at the White House by President Lincoln, the President said to
General Tom Thumb, indicating their respective heights:"God likes to do funny things;
here you have the long and the short if it."
The parents and others of the family were of normal size, But Mercy and her
sister Hulda were of diminutive stature. Mercy and her 2nd husband ran an ice cream
parlor known as Primo's Pastime at Middleboro, Ma.
