Isaac b. at Rochester, Ma. He lived at Lyme, Ct. and Brattleboro, Vt. He was a
farmer. He enlisted Apr. 12, 1759 for French and Indian War. Was disch. Dec. 25,
1759, do 1758, do 1759. Brattleboro Town Clerks records show several transfers of
land to and from Isaac. The first record of purchase by Isaac was May 2, 1786 which
was probably the time of his removal from Lyme, Ct. to Brattleboro, Vt. On Nov. 24,
1800, Isaac transferred what was probably his home place in Brattleboro to John Bump
of Lime(Lyme), New London Co., Ct. for a consideration of $1,000. On the same
date, there is record of an agreement between Isaac and John of Lime(Lyme) in which
it is agreed between them that Isaac is to have and hold the property during his
natural life and during the natural life of Keziah Bump, wife of said Isaac, that John
is to comfortably support said Isaac and Keziah for and during thier natural life in
good wholesome meats and drinks and good and sufficient wearing apparel.

Per CHB: Seth b. at Wareham, Ma., m. at Rochester, Ma. Experience Dexter the
dau. of Benjamin and Priscilla(Benson) Dexter. He d. at Nelson, Madison Co., N.Y. She
d. at Nelson, Madison Co., N.Y. Burials in Welch Cem. near Nelson,(South Fenner)
N.Y.(See notes by LAB that will follow.) Lived at Southampton, Long Island, N.Y.;
Granville, Ma.; Nelson, N.Y.
Rev. War: Private from Plympton, Ma. 1775, 78 & 80.
From land transfers at Granville, Hampden Co., Ma. it would appear that Seth
removed from that town after the death of his father, Salathiel probably about 1800,
after living there about 20 years. This being the case it would appear that the
children of Seth with the exception of Isaac who was b. at Southampton, N.Y. were
all born at Granville. There is no record at Granville.
Probated records dated Feb. 4, 1813 show administrator Isaac Bumpus: heirs,
Experience Bumpus, widow, Nelson, N.Y. Isaac Bumpus, son Nelson.
Biog. Ref. Madison Co., N.Y., Smith: Jesse, Abner and Seth, brothers, lived in the
north part of town. Came before 1800.
Research by LAB: Gravestones in the Nelson Rural Cem., Nelson, N.Y. say: Mrs.
Experience wife of Seth Bumpus died Aug. 25, 1842 in her 80th year.
Seth Bumpus died
May 29, 1812 aged 59 years. (This disagrees with the statement by CHB that both are
buried in Welch Cem. I have been there and actually copied the information from the
gravestones that are still standing 1980.)
Seth Bumpus (g.p 5.33) was a Rev. War soldier, private from Plympton 1775, 1778 & 1780.
Seth Bumpus purchased property in the Town of Cazenovia, N.Y., Co. of
Chenango(Madison Co. was part of Chenango Co. at that time) in the year 1799 from
Aschel Jackson, per indenture dated 2-23-1799, sealed and delivered in the presence
of Isaac Bumpus and Jesse Bumpus (Ashel and Levina) I have a copy of the original of
this indenture. The original is in the possession of D. Fay Davies(1980), Nelson, N.Y.
Delos Fay Davies(g.p 9.18), s. of Jessie D. Bumpus and Erian M. Davies. Delos lives on
the old Homestead at Nelson, N.Y. 1986 where he has lived for many years.

Jesse b. at Wareham, Ma. Lived at Southampton, Long Island, N.Y. ca. 1767-1781

Long Island, N.Y. He thought it was no good and removed to Albion, N.Y. where he

The Census 1840 for Philetus at Albion shows 1 male 70-80 which is undoubtedly
Jesse the father of Philetus. This would establish the birth date of Jesse as 1760-70. I
believe the above is the Jesse b. July 18, 1763 at Wareham, Ma.
